A New Chapter for Me & Rockstar Leaders

Dear Rockstar Leaders community,

I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news. I’ve recently accepted a full-time position as a Reading Specialist at Alpha School!

Alpha is doing incredible work in reimagining what school can look like. Their model is built around 2x learning in half the time through mastery-based academics and life skills coaching. It’s a place where students learn to set goals, track their progress, and build the confidence to take ownership of their learning. These are all things that deeply align with what I’ve always believed in and practiced through Rockstar Leaders. So what does this mean for Rockstar Leaders?

As many of you have noticed, I haven’t been hosting as many Mommy & Me yoga classes lately. Over the past year, I’ve naturally shifted more focus toward tutoring and early literacy, which has become such a huge passion of mine. I do plan to bring back some Mommy & Me opportunities in the future, but they may look a little different. Think fewer in-person classes and more online resources, videos, and workshops that families can enjoy from home.

On the tutoring side, we’re refining our focus to PreK through 3rd grade, the foundational years where literacy skills truly take shape. This means we’ll be offering literacy screeners throughout Charlotte and helping families understand exactly where their child is and how to best support their reading growth. From there, we’ll recommend a personalized course of action to make sure every child is confident and ready for PreK and kindergarten success.

In many ways, these shifts aren’t new. They’ve been happening naturally as Rockstar Leaders continues to grow and evolve. I truly believe we have a bright future ahead filled with new opportunities to reach families in meaningful ways.
