Where We Are and Where We’re Going

Has your mind ever felt like a ball of string? I don’t know why, but that’s the analogy I started using when there’s so much going on in my head. I am constantly thinking of new ideas for Rockstar Leaders and the direction I want to move with it. Some days all I think about is yoga and mindfulness, other days all I think about is tutoring. Most days, my mind is lost in both. My brain literally feels like a jumbled ball of string–it’s not good, it’s not bad, it just needs to be straightened and organized a bit.

This past summer was SO busy for Rockstar Leaders with tutoring and mommy and me classes, and I am beyond grateful for y’all. Now that school is back in session, things at RSL have been slower, and that’s okay because I know this is how it goes; however, I’ve fallen out of a routine–I sleep till 8 or 9 most days, rarely attend yoga classes, and I eat Chick-Fil-A for lunch and dinner. I actually made it to Red Status recently…am I proud or disappointed?! A little of both.

Something needs to change, so I recently whipped out Old Reliable (my Legend’s Planner) and started writing my goals, why they're important, and how I’ll work to meet them. While journaling, I realized (which it doesn’t take a genius to figure out) that I can’t do everything or be everywhere all at once, but I sure want to! A friend and fellow entrepreneur once told me to focus on ONE thing, everything else is a distraction. So I thought back to how RSL started.

Rockstar Leaders actually began as Rockstar Readers in 2023. At first, it was solely a tutoring business—I spent a few afternoons and evenings each week in families’ homes, helping children grow as readers and steadily expanding my clientele by over 300%.

In 2024, after completing my 200-hour yoga certification, I saw a growing need for yoga and mindfulness with children. That’s when the idea clicked: why not combine my expertise in education with my passion for yoga? I wanted the brand to reflect a more holistic approach to supporting kids—academically, socially, and emotionally. That’s when Rockstar Readers evolved into Rockstar Leaders.

I put a lot of thought and intentionality into my kids’ yoga classes– there are so many tools and tips to teach kids and families about mindfulness and their bodies. Not only do I develop the structure and plan for the class, but I also find and secure the locations, align everyone’s schedules, create marketing materials, and provide customer service. It brings me such joy to be able to provide these experiences for connection between families, but the truth is, it’s a lot of work for little return. All of this work would not even be possible without the network of amazing entrepreneurs in Charlotte, Kelly, my fabulous “assistant,” my family and friends, and YOU! Your words of encouragement are what keep me going. Thank you.

Okay…getting to the point!

My focus for the foreseeable future is to grow and scale the tutoring side of Rockstar Leaders. This is where my expertise lies, and my greatest joy is watching students not only grow in their learning but also build their confidence. Many people ask, “What is Rockstar Leaders?” and to make things clearer, I’m officially shifting our tutoring side of things to Charlotte Tutoring by Rockstar Leaders.

With this shift, tutoring will become even more intentional. Families can now expect:

  • Progress reports every 6 weeks

  • Optional tutor-family conferences

  • A streamlined platform, TutorBird, where you can schedule sessions, make payments, view your child’s progress, communicate with your tutor, and more—all in one place.

So, what’s changing? Tutoring now has its own dedicated name, website, and Instagram page—focused 100% on literacy and academic support.

And what’s staying the same? Rockstar Leaders is still Rockstar Leaders. You’ll still see me sharing about yoga, mindfulness, and literacy on Instagram, and those values of connection, confidence, and calm still shape everything we do. I’m just pressing pause on hosting kids’ yoga and mindfulness classes for now so I can focus on growing Charlotte Tutoring. There’s one more opportunity for mommy and me yoga! Join RSL and Growing Our Girls on October 12 at 10am for a super fun yoga flow! Sign up here!

The hope is to eventually expand Charlotte Tutoring by RSL into other cities so we can support even more children. But first, the goal is simple: FOCUS—one step at a time.
